A centenarian has revealed the secret to living a long life is "always working hard".
Glad Field celebrated her landmark birthday in style at Friston House care home in Rochester with staff, family and friends.
The 100-year-old said: "The secret to a long life is always working hard, I worked on a farm and never stopped. I did not have much time for television or entertainment as I had my family to look after and there was always lots to do."
Her daughters Irene Bray and Yvonne Harvey were amongst relatives who came to enjoy the celebrations this week.
They said: "Glad is and has been a fantastic mother and friend to so many over the past hundred years, and it is wonderful to be with her on this very special day to say just how proud she makes us feel."
Glad received a telegram from the Queen and was visited by the deputy mayor of Medway Kirstine Carr on her big day.
Guests also enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef Abin Babu.
Mary Oyefeso, deputy manager at the home in City Way added: "We are delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone.
"Glad is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more as she breaks into her next century."
Friston House care home is run by Barchester Healthcare and provides residential, nursing and dementia care for 80 residents.
