Medway Culture Club to host interactive workshop on Hindu festival, Diwali

A charity will host an interactive workshop about the Hindu festival of light.

Medway Culture Club will immerse children in music, dance and cuisine of Indian culture.

The event will be hosted in partnership with arts organisation Cohesion Plus on Saturday, November 4.

The club’s chairman Camealia Xavier-Chihota said: “Join us and internationally renowned Dhol Drummer Bill Singh for an enchanting morning of cultural celebration.

“Get ready to immerse your children in the vibrant traditions of Diwali.”

Anyone between the ages of five to 16 can be dropped off at Woodlands Youth Centre in Woodlands Road, Gillingham, at 10.30am.

They will first learn about the significance of the Hindu festival and why it is celebrated.

The children will then participate in folk dancing, Bhangra and drumming to the beats of Punjabi music.

A lunch served by a local Indian restaurant will also be served and the workshop will finish at 1pm, costing around £8 to attend.
