Chatham manager Alex O'Brien admitted his side's opening day defeat to Godalming was a wake-up call

Chatham Town lost at home to title-chasing Worthing in Ryman League Division 1 South on Saturday.

Jamie Brotherton's 23rd-minute goal was enough to seal the points in a game where chances were at a premium.

Town could only muster a single shot on target and Alex O'Brien, pictured, and his side have now accrued just 14 points from a possible 30 at Maidstone Road.

Chats did, however, give a debut to former Welling defender Cedric Ngakam who had only signed at the 11th hour the previous night.
