Hopes of Prizefighter success ended for Chatham’s Tom Dallas following defeat to the eventual winner in the semi-final of the competition.

Dallas (pictured) got through the quarter-final stage with victory over fellow English heavyweight Tom Little but had no answer for New York’s Tor Hamer in the next stage.

And it was Hamer who walked away with the £32,000 prize after beating fellow American Kevin Johnson in the final at York Hall.

Dallas went into Wednesday night’s live televised tournament looking to bounce back from successive KOs on the domestic scene.

But against some high ranked international opponents he went into his latest challenge as one of the outsiders.

The quarter-final draw saw Dallas up against Little - a fighter who had previously been touted as a possible opponent to help re-ignite the St Mary’s Gym fighter’s boxing career.

In a three round contest he came out victorious after stopping previously unbeaten Little halfway through the final round.

Hamer was up next, with the winner due to face much-fancied Johnson in the final.

American Hamer, heading into the match with just one defeat from 17 and a comfortable win over Brazilian Marcelo Luiz Nascimento in his quarter-final bout, was favourite to progress. He produced a devastating assault to end Dallas’ hopes, with referee John Keane stepping in to end the contest after 29 seconds.

The evening takes Dallas’ pro record to 16 wins from 19, with 12 of those victories coming by way of knock out.
