A Chatham mother and musician has allegedly travelled to the Middle East to join jihadist group Islamic State.

According to reports, 45-year-old Sally Jones has left her two children to marry British jihadi Junaid Hussain - who has been connected to the beheading of journalist James Foley - and moved to Raqqa, the IS stronghold in Syria.

The unemployed single mother is said to have once fronted an all-girl rock band in the 1990s and previously had an interest in black magic and witchcraft.

Thought to be operating a Twitter account under the alias Umm Hussain al-Britani, she has posted a series of radical statements, condemning Christians and Jews and praising Osama Bin Laden.

She is recently said to have warned: "You Christians all need beheading with a blunt knife and stuck on the railings at Raqqa... Come here I'll do it for you."

Among tweets still visible on the account was one from last month, which reads: "Alhamdulillah me and my husband made it to the Islamic State after being stuck in Idlib for 7 months & are now living in the khilafah #isis."

Former neighbours in Chatham have spoken of her chaotic lifestyle, describing her as a "nightmare" who was always screaming and shouting and had previously believed she was a witch.
