Chatham Town boss Paul Foley admits the chances of his side escaping the Ryman League Division 1 South drop-zone are "extremely slim."

Second-bottom Chatham sit eight points adrift of Corinthian Casuals with a far worse goal difference and just three games remaining to get out of the relegation zone.

Chatham could remain in the division next season irrespective of where they finish due to reorganisation of the league ladders caused by teams dropping out at higher levels.

Foley said: "Our chances of getting out of the bottom two are extremely slim now with the results elsewhere on Saturday.

"As far as a reprieve goes, with other clubs folding at Step 4, we will just have to wait and see. But we are concentrating on trying to get safe in the right way."

Chatham are winless in 12 games but will look to respond positively against play-off chasing Walton Casuals tomorrow (Saturday) before Easter Monday’s trip to Eastbourne.

Foley also confirmed striker Rob Denness will not be allowed to play in any of the final three games after his registration documents were lost in the post.

Foley said: "The league are unwilling to budge, despite acknowledging that there were severe postal problems with a number of clubs failing to get their hard copies in on time for the same reasons."
