Craig Wilkins and Nick Hegley have both played their last games of the season for Chatham Town.

Wilkins has announced he is retiring from the game due to increased work commitments, while Hegley has decided to concentrate on curing achilles and ankle problems which have hampered him for much of the season.

Wilkins returned to the county last November after spells with Met Police and Maldon Town.

Boss Paul Foley, pictured, said: "I tried to talk Craig round as he has been good for us since signing but budget cuts made the decision easier for him, as he can get much more money working.

"Nick has had a long-term injury but wants to get it right, so won’t be around for the rest of the season. The cuts have also played a part in his decision."

Chats travel to mid-table Chipstead in Ryman League, Division 1 South on Saturday, having lost 3-0 at home to the Surrey outfit in January.

Foley said: "It will be a tough game as they are having a good season. We were poor earlier in the season and it was our worst home defeat.

"I am expecting a much better showing this time against honest and hard-working opponents, so we need to be up for the challenge.

"We have our targets and are focusing on them."
