Chatham's players and staff held a clear the air meeting after slumping to their second successive Ryman League Division 1 South defeat.

Chatham lost 2-0 at home to Godalming on Saturday to slip to 14th, eight points away from the play-off places having played a game more.

Assistant manager Mark Newson said: "We had a long talk after Saturday. It was the first time we have sat down and had a few home truths out there. We basically said ‘this stops now.’

"There were a few voices raised but there was no tea cup throwing or anything like that. It was all constructive stuff and everyone left knowing where we all agree we need to improve.

"We went in confident into the past two games after a four-match unbeaten run but we just didn’t perform, which was a bit disappointing."

Newson said he hoped that Chats would get back to winning ways with the trip to Walton & Hersham on Saturday despite having lost five of their last seven games on the road.

He admitted there would be changes against Walton, who have won three of their last four games.

Anthony Hogg could return after suspension, while Nick Hegley and Ray Powell should recover from injury in time to play.
