Chatham manager Kevin Watson has persuaded former Town favourites Matt Solly and Ryan Laker to return to Maidstone Road ahead of the new season.

Solly (pictured) left the now Ryman League Division 1 North side midway through last season for a spell in the Kent League Premier Division with Erith & Belvedere

Watson told the club’s website: "In order to develop the style of play that fits in with the management’s philosophy, we need players like Matt and Ryan, who are comfortable on the ball as well as fit enough to play with a high intensity."

He added: "It was important that we could attract Matt back to the club, but it was not an easy decision for him to return. Myself and Steve Binks personally met him and made it clear where he would fit into our plans."

Watson also revealed: "Ryan was one of few players who came out of last season with any real credit. I have had several conversations with Ryan over the close season about his options, and have tried to advise him in terms of what is best for his development as a player."
