Chatham Town boss Paul Foley has praised the spirit of his players after they learned their expenses money was being cut by the club.

The off-field issues come on top of the on-field woes, which have seen the Chats plummet to third-bottom in Ryman League, Division 1 South after a run of five defeats in six games.

They sit four points clear of second-bottom Corinthian Casuals but have played thee more games than their rivals.

Foley, pictured, said: "The response from the squad to more restrictions in the expense allowances imposed by the club recently has been first class.

"I am hoping that they will be united in their efforts from now until the end of the season."

Play-off chasing Worthing visit Maidstone Road on Saturday looking to complete the double over Foley’s side after a 3-1 win in Sussex last month.

Foley said: "Worthing is another big game, as they all are now. It is a big day as there are some interesting games elsewhere involving the bottom sides.

"They are an honest, hard-working side so we will need to be as good as we were at Burgess Hill and in our last home game with Met Police to get a much-needed win."
