Firefighters tackle fire after children discovered a TV was alight in a bedroom in Tupman Close, Rochester

Firefighters used hose reel jets and a ventilation fan to put out a fire after children discovered a TV in a bedroom was alight.
Fire crews were called to the two-storey property in Tupman Close, Rochester at 9.40pm.
The occupiers' children discovered that the TV in the bedroom was issuing smoke and alerted their parents.
When they found the TV was alight, the occupier quickly led the children to safety and closed the bedroom door before calling the fire brigade.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to put out the fire, which was confined to the bedroom.
A ventilation fan was was needed to clear from the first floor smoke which had slightly damaged the property.
There are no reports of any injuries and the family were temporarily rehomed by relatives.
The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
