Police appeal for information on Co-op burglary

Officers are appealing for information on a burglary in the early hours of this morning at Hempstead Road's Co-op store.

The Gillingham convenience store saw officers attend at 3.02am after the incident took place at around 1.45am, with cigarettes reported stolen.

The store, on Hempstead Road, has reopened today.

Co-op spokesman Bryan Bell said: “Fortunately no one was present and the store is now open as usual to serve the local community.

"The Co-op takes retail crime very seriously and implements a range of measures to both deter criminal activity and to aid convictions.

"We appeal for anyone with information to come forward to the police.”

Enquiries are still ongoing, and anyone with information about the incident or identity of anyone involved has been asked to call Kent Police on 01634 792209 quoting reference 23-0106.
