A woman was cut free from a car after a three vehicle pile-up on the M2 this morning.
Police were called at 8.55am to junction 1 of the coastbound M2 after the crash on the exit for Rochester, Gillingham and Grain, known as the Wainscott by-pass.
Police, four ambulances and three fire engines were called to the scene.
Traffic queued on the A2 until just after noon, when the road was re-opened.
A rolling road block was put in place beforehand to allow the closure to be lifted safely.
Several people have been taken to hospital as a precaution but nobody is thought to have been seriously injured.
