A woman was treated for smoke inhalation after she attempted to tackle a living room blaze.
Crews were called to a house in Bushmeadow Road, Rainham, just after 9am this morning after an open fire got out of control and spread to the lounge.
A woman attempted to tackle the fire herself, but it soon spread and she became overwhelmed by the smoke and needed to get out of the property.
Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze, which had taken hold of the lounge when they arrived.
The room was badly damaged by fire and smoke.
Kent Fire and Rescue advise people not to tackle house fires themselves, but to get out of the property as soon as possible, call 999 and ask for the fire service.
