Six fire engines have been called to the scene of a fire at a recycling centre.

People living near the Chatham Docks are being advised to keep their doors and windows shut because of smoke coming from the blaze.

Crews were called at around 6.50pm and remain at the scene.

A fire service spokesman said: “There are currently six fire engines in attendance.

“Please share this information with any loved ones in the area who may not have access to the internet.”

Pictures from the scene show smoke billowing from the building and a large orange light – which isn’t flames.
