A cyclist has been airlifted to hospital following a crash with a car this morning.

Police were called to the collision in New Road, Chatham, at about 8.10am.

The smash closed the road in both directions for several hours, with motorists warned to expect delays.

A spokesman for the police said: "Officers attended the scene, which involved a car and a cyclist, who has suffered an injury.

"The cyclist is being airlifted to hospital."

The road reopened by11am.
