Parents across Medway will begin finding out today which primary or infant school their child has been offered a place at from September.

The council says it received applications for 3,299 Towns' youngsters, with 91% of them being given their first choice.

More than 97% were given a place at one of their top three preferences.

In total, the local authority has processed applications for 3,411 children – 112 children from outside Medway.

Some 99% of families used the online application process to submit their preferences.

Due to the pandemic, parents are advised to return any forms they need to complete, to accept or refuse their child’s offer, by email rather than visiting the school to hand them in.

If parents wish to appeal their child’s place, the form should be emailed to the school, or to Medway Council, if the school is maintained by the local authority.

There is a link in the admissions offer email to the next steps guide which advises parents and carers where to return the forms.

If a family decides to place their child on a waiting list for a school place, forms should be returned to admissions@medway.gov.uk.

Medway residents who have not submitted an application yet can still apply online at medway.gov.uk/onlineadmissions.

Contact the school admissions and transport team if you require a paper form or any assistance via admissions@medway.gov.uk.

Meanwhile, almost 20,000 children in the Kent local authority area are to also discovered where they're heading this autumn.
