A dispersal order is in force in a town where yobs have wreaked havoc this week.

The measure was introduced by police in Gillingham in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.

It will be enforced in the town's high street, Green Street, Theodore Place, Jeffrey Street, James Street, Skinner Street and Balmoral Road.

While it is in force, officers and PCSOs will be authorised to stop anyone involved in anti-social behaviour and move them on from the area.

If a person fails to leave, or returns to the area during the dispersal order, they are liable to be arrested.

Meanwhile, drunken yobs forced entry to a popular attraction and left smashed glass in its swimming pool - forcing it to close today.

Bookings made at the Strand Leisure Pool in Gillingham were cancelled this morning after revellers enjoyed a "pool party" last night.

Elsewhere, nuisance behaviour in two coastal towns is being targeted this weekend with dispersal orders.

Parts of Herne Bay and Whitstable have become subject to a 48-hour order since 7pm yesterday.
