Police update after M2 traffic near Rochester held due to 'distressed man'

A "distressed man", who caused the M2 motorway to be closed last night, is now being treated by medical staff, the police have confirmed.

Officers closed off the coast-bound carriageway just before Junction 1 for Rochester.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 7.40pm on Saturday to reports of a distressed man near the M2 in Rochester.

"Officers attended and enforced a road closure just before Junction 1 until the man was safely located.

"He was taken to a local hospital and passed into the care of medical staff."
