Darnley Road, Strood, disturbance sees five released without charge

Five people have been released without charge following a disturbance on a housing estate in Strood on Saturday morning.

One witness said about 20 officers swooped on Darnley Road at around 11.10am following reports of a fight.

Police spokesman Charlotte North said: "We were called at 11.09am on Saturday, February 29 to a disturbance involving a group of people in Darnley Road, Strood.

"Officers attended and, following inquiries at the scene, a 58-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Three men, aged 21, 22 and 44, were also arrested on suspicion of affray. No serious injuries were reported.

"Officers spoke to all parties involved to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"It was agreed, with the approval of the reported victims, that a community resolution was the most appropriate and proportionate way to resolve the incident. As such, all five people were released without charge."
