Police want to talk to this man in connection with a mobile phone theft

Detectives have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a mobile phone theft in Strood.

Officers investigating a reported crime in which a taxi driver had his Samsung Galaxy stolen from the dashboard of his car are appealing for the public’s help in tracing a man they believe might be able to assist in their investigation.

The incident happened on March 31, but details have only just been released by the police.

It is alleged two men got into a pre-booked taxi outside Strood railway station between 11.25pm and 11.47pm, before they jumped out and one man snatched the phone from the dashboard.

Both men then ran away up an alleyway leading to Mill Road and Everest Lane.

A 19 year old man from Rochester has been interviewed under caution on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

Kent Police is now appealing for help in identifying a man captured on CCTV, as it is thought he may have information that could help them with their investigation.

He is described as having short brown hair, with a slim build, and between 5ft 10ins and 6ft tall.

It is thought the man might be a frequent visitor to the Gravesend area.
