A golden retriever and its owner had to be rescued after they became trapped in mud in Hoo Marina.

Firefighters used ladders to rescue them after being called at about 6.30am today.

The dog had jumped off the side of a boat and its owner had also gone overboard to console the animal.

Both were fine, if a little muddy. Firefighters spent two hours at scene.
