A driver has been taken to hospital after two vans and a lorry were involved in a crash in a busy tunnel.

Police and paramedics were called shortly before 9am to the incident in the Medway Tunnel.

The carriageway approaching the Medway City Estate – which has a lane out due to ongoing roadworks – was blocked adding to traffic congestion until the vehicles were cleared.

A police spokesman said the person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses said the lorry involved was a car transporter and the one open lane had been blocked with police diverting traffic around the incident in the other lane.
