A driver has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a car and a lorry.

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident shortly before 4am on the A2 at its junction with Barnsole Road in Gillingham.

The driver of the car sustained a head injury that is not considered to be life threatening.

A lamp post and a wall were also damaged in the crash.

The road was closed while both vehicles were recovered and was reopened at shortly before 7am.

Highways officers remain at the scene dealing with a fuel spillage.
