Suspected Medway drug dealer Edwin Aghatise in court after police stop vehicle in Dock Road, Chatham

Drugs with an estimated street value of more than £5,000 were seized by police who arrested a suspected dealer.

Officers on patrol in Gillingham followed a suspicious vehicle before stopping it in Chatham on Tuesday.

A search of the vehicle found more than 100 wraps of cocaine and heroin - including 22 in one package and a larger package said to contain 79 wraps.

Police also reportedly discussed another lump of suspected Class A substances, cash and took two mobile phones from the vehicle after the stop in Dock Road at about 5.40pm.

Spokesman Jo Pattison said the drugs seized by the Medway Community Policing Team were worth £5,380.

Edwin Aghatise, of no fixed address, was charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
