Chatham man to appear in court accused of historic sexual offences against children

A man in his 80s is due to appear in crown court charged with historic sexual offences against children.

John William Kemp, of Sharon Crescent, Chatham, is accused of 22 offences dating back to 1958.

Medway Magistrates' Court.

These include indecent assault on girls aged under 14, inciting girls under 14 to engage in gross indecency, and rape of a female under 16.

The alleged offences were between 1958 to 1973.

The 81-year-old appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He was bailed to attend Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, November 5.

His bail conditions were not to make contact with any of the alleged victims.
