Severe weather emergency protocol put in place by Medway Council as temperatures drop

Rough sleepers are being advised emergency accommodation is open as a severe windy weather warning has been put in place.

Those in the Medway Towns are being offered overnight emergency accommodation throughout the weekend.

Anyone requiring emergency accommodation is encouraged to visit Kingsley House, Balmoral Road, Gillingham, by 4.45pm this evening.

Accommodation will be available from today until Monday.

Those unable to get to Kingsley House should call the out of hours homelessness service on 01634304400.

An amber weather warning has also been put in place for Sunday as Storm Ciara is expected to hit the UK.

Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to lows of 9C (48F) in overnight tonight in Gillingham.
