An outdoor open air swimming pool is set to open on extra days this week.

The current spell of hot weather has prompted The Strand Lido, in Gillingham, to accept bookings for this Thursday and Friday, as well as the weekend.

It was previously announced that the lido, which is Medway’s only open air swimming pool, would be open on weekends from Saturday (June 17).

In a statement, they wrote: “Thank you to the team and partners who have worked incredible hard to re-open.”

This came after they shut temporarily at the end of May shortly after opening due to ”technical issues”.

The pool, which is operated by Medway Council. includes a paddling area and a lazy river and there are also sun bathing areas. Further details on booking is available here.

There will be sessions from 10.30am to 1.30pm, and from 2.30pm to 5:30pm
