Families without water

More than 360 homes in Hoo were left without water after a pipe burst.
Residents on the Chimes Green estate and nearby streets had their supply turned off by Southern Water after the pipe incident at about 4am yesterday (Sunday).
A spokesman for Southern Water said water had been turned on around 8.15am but had to be switched off again at 10.30am for repairs to be done.
Resident Christine Lavin said: “It is disgusting that they left families with young children without any water for more than eight hours.
“They told us to go and buy water and said we’d have to tell our children they couldn’t use the toilet. How can you tell a child that?
The Southern Water spokesman added: “When we went down to see what the problem was we found the leak was in a pipe joint, which is more difficult to fix.
“We are really sorry that the customers have had some inconvenience, but we did try to keep that as minimal as possible.”
