A famous musician and TV personality will be performing and presenting at a virtual concert for a charity which faces a £500,000 loss.

Jools Holland OBE, who lives at Cooling Castle on the Hoo peninsula, will be introducing 12 acts as well as playing at the event in aid of the Churches Conservation Trust (CCT).

The pianist is the vice president of the organisation and will take part in the online show to try and raise funds as it faces a huge loss due to the pandemic.

The concert will be streamed on YouTube at 7.30pm this Friday.

The trust hopes to "bring communities back together" with the recent re-opening of its 15 churches in Canterbury , Folkestone , Malling and Medway .

It says there will be a range of differing music to appeal to all tastes, including classical and violin, jazz and folk.

Jools Hooland, who is the trust's vice president, said: "The trust holds a unique and growing collection of 356 historic churches throughout England which have been saved because they represent some of the most beautiful examples of architecture and craftsmanship in our country today, whilst also telling the stories of our shared past.

"Because of the lockdown, it is facing a loss to the tune of half a million pounds.

"It’s not a very nice tune, and it's not one that I like to hear.

"Throughout the concert, you will see various ways that you can donate. Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated and will help keep these special buildings alive.

"Churches have been at the centre of our communities and our lives for hundreds of years. Now, more than ever, we need your support to ensure they continue to survive into the future, for generations to come.”
