Fire crews were called to a kitchen fire at a commercial property in Gillingham High Street last night.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene just before 9pm last night and crews arrived to smoke and flames issuing from the ground floor kitchen towards the rear of the building.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze, before ventilating the property, which is occupied by an accountancy firm.

Crews were on the scene for two hours.
