A man of 62 has been cleared of possessing a sawn-off shotgun after the case against him was dropped.
Christopher Coburn was alleged to have had the prohibited firearm at his home in Thorold Road, Chatham, on June 20.
He appeared at Maidstone Crown Court by video link with Elmley Prison, Sheppey.
He was remanded in custody and was due to stand trial at the same court, with the case scheduled for the week beginning November 6.
But Judge Philip St John-Stevens said on Monday, July 24, the Crown Prosecution Service had indicated no evidence would be offered against Mr Coburn.
The judge entered a formal not guilty verdict.
