Coronavirus Kent: First person with Covid-19 dies at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham

A 64-year-old from Medway has died after testing positive for coronavirus.

He was being looked after at Medway Maritime Hospital and had underlying health conditions.

The first death from coronavirus in Kent was at Medway Maritime Hospital

James Devine, Chief Executive of Medway NHS Foundation Trust: “Sadly, we can confirm that a man who was being cared for at Medway Maritime Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

“The patient, who died on Thursday was aged 64 and had underlying health conditions.

“His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

He is one of 184 people who have now died after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK.
