Frank Bruno has faced some tough opponents in the ring, but how will he fare against the ghosts of Fort Amherst?
The former boxer will spend the night at the Napoleonic fort in Chatham as some of the UK's leading mediums join forces for a unique charity event.
Criminologist medium Roy Roberts, from Chatham, who was voted London's Best Medium 2009, and Barrie John from the television show Most Haunted, will be conducting extreme paranormal experiments in the 18th century tunnels on Saturday, February 13.
They will be joined by best-selling author and paranormal expert Jacky Newcomb, known as The Angel Lady, and paranormal researcher, author and historian Richard Felix.
Roy Roberts said: "We chose to come to Fort Amherst because it is one of the best locations for a paranormal investigation in the UK. It is steeped in history."
Previously reported paranormal activity on the site has included male and female voices, shuffling footsteps, the apparition of a grey male figure, dark moving shadows in the tunnels and the gun emplacements, and people feeling as if they have been pushed.
All ticket proceeds will be donated to Help for Heroes which provides support for ex-service men and women who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts.
Steve Craddock, Medway representative for the charity, said: "It's brilliant Frank Bruno is joining us, he's a national treasure."
Event organisers, Compass Paranormal, hope to raise even more cash by offering 36 VIP tickets which will go to the highest bidders.
VIP guests will be invited to a champagne reception at The Royal Engineers Museum in Gillingham from 7pm, where they will meet Frank Bruno and the celebrity mediums. To bid for a VIP ticket, visit www.compassparanormalevents.co.uk
Bids must be more than the usual ticket price of £69.
The paranormal investigations will begin at the fort at 9pm. Guests will be divided into small groups and taken around by the team, with the chance to join in with the seances and vigils.
The evening ends at 3am, when the team of mediums will be joining together to attempt to break the world record for the biggest ever seance, involving more than 200 people.
The whole night will be captured on camera and aired on Sky's The Unexplained Channel. It will also be available to buy on DVD, with all profits going to Help for Heroes.
n Standard tickets, priced at £69, are still available by calling 0115 829838 or 07785952324 or at www.compassparanormalevents.co.uk
