An Indian restaurant has started sharing its premises with a new village eatery while it is shut during the day.

Long-time café owner Brian Sanders used to run Top Munch in Strood which closed during lockdown but has now set up a new business in Cliffe Woods.

The 46-year-old opened Cliffe Woods Café with his daughter Holly Blamphim after noticing there was nowhere to get a coffee in his home village.

He said: "It has been going really well at the moment. There was no cafés in the area. There are a lot of groups in Cliffe Woods but there was nowhere for them to meet up.

"We have started this for the community really. There is not a lot around here but now we have opened and people are coming in and sitting down.

"The best thing for me has been seeing the community, the older people and autistic groups that have come in happy. It has been good."

The eatery is located inside Indian restaurant Cliffe Spice at Parkside Parade as it is shut in during the day and sits empty, said Taylor.

Although only being open for a week, the café has already caught the eye of Medway boxer Louis Greene who has become a regular customer.
