Andy Hessenthaler has come out fighting after hitting rock bottom last weekend.

The Gillingham manager admitted the 4-3 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon was the lowest point of the season but is ready to bounce back at Accrington Stanley tomorrow.

"There are 20 wars to go, 60 points up for grabs and it’s still all to play for," said Hessenthaler. "We can’t be angry any more. We have to get on with it and have another challenge now.

"It won’t be easy at Accrington and we didn’t have a good experience there last season so we have to pick the right team. It turned out to be the wrong team on Saturday because we were beaten. We have to pick the right team to get a result this weekend."

Hessenthaler (pictured) hauled his players in for extra training on Sunday and forced them to watch a DVD of the defeat to AFC Wimbledon, where they let slip a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3.

The Gills manager is set to make changes to his defence this weekend against a side who beat them 7-4 last season. He wants no repeat of that and no repeat of last week’s performance.

He said: "It just shows how things can change around if you approach games the wrong way and if you make the wrong decisions. That’s been the case and we have to stop that now, nip it in the bud and get back to where we were.

"There’s a possibility we could make changes. We need to get results and you can’t afford to have one bad game."

Hessenthaler could have both Andy Frampton (ankle) and Matt Fish (shin) back at his disposal while Connor Essam is due to be recalled from a loan spell at Dartford.
