GILLINGHAM player-manager Andy Hessenthaler and defender Barry Ashby will learn their fate later today following the August altercation with referee Colin Webster at the end of the 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion. As neither have asked for a personal hearing the case was being heard in their absences in Manchester.

Coach Richard Hill, who was also involved, lodged an appeal and this has been adjourned until a later date as he is out of the country with the squad in La Manga.

All three were involved with the Durham official after the final whistle following his decision to order off defender Roland Edge for serious foul play in the match at The Hawthorns on Monday, August 27.

Mr Webster reported the trio who were charged with improper conduct. Both Hessenthaler and Ashby face the prospect of two-match bans.

Ashby is already serving a one-match ban following his dismissal against Wolves on September 18 which rules him out of Tuesday's Worthington Cup tie against Southampton.

Gillingham have confirmed that finance director Roger Maddams is to leave the club after succeeding Paul Fisher earlier this year. Mr Maddams is a well known former local referee.

He follows his assistant, Steve McNally, programme editor Andy Church and commercial manager John Swaby out of Priestfield this season.

Tickets for Gillingham's Worthington Cup, third round home tie against Premier League Southampton are on general sale at the Priestfield ticket office along with tickets for the Nationwide League home game against Norwich on Saturday, October 13 are also on sale.

Meanwhile, former Gillingham player and coach Steve Butler, sacked by Leicester ealier along with Foxes' boss Peter Taylor, has registered as a player with Maidstone and Mid-Kent Sunday League club Cherry Tree.
