Gillingham's Goliath moment will be immortalised in cartoon form.

A special edition of the comic book Roy of the Rovers gives over a page to The Gills famous FA Cup victory against Premier League opponents Cardiff City.

Elliot List's match winning strike in the 81st minute is one moment from the third round tie to feature.

The 21-year-old will appear alongside gaffer Steve Lovell at Priestfield's megastore at 1pm tomorrow to sign copies of the strip for fans.

Barnet, Newport County and Oldham Athletic also feature, having pulled off similar upsets.

A limited number of the comic books were released today by each of the clubs with fans also able to download the comic online here or via www.TheFA.com.

Lovell said: “The win was a dream come true moment for us. The team played brilliantly and stuck to the game plan. However, we had a 12th player on the day and that was the fans. They were excellent and got right behind us. It’s great to see the action illustrated in the comic book, especially as something for our amazing supporters to take home.”

The FA’s director of professional game relations Andy Ambler said: “Anything is possible in The Emirates FA Cup as results in the Third Round showed. The competition is for all and a chance for players and teams across the football pyramid to write their names into folklore. We are delighted to create this commemorative comic book featuring the stars of Barnet, Gillingham, Newport County and Oldham Athletic and hope the fans across the country enjoy looking back on these memorable moments in cartoon form. Good luck to all the clubs in the Fourth Round.”

Roy of the Rovers returned to print last year after a 17-year hiatus.

The latest edition features hero Roy Race as a 16-year-old footballing prodigy taking his first steps in the professional game and retaining the same talent and passion that made him a favourite for football fans since the 1950s.

The Gills travel to Wales on Saturday (January 26) to take on Championship side Swansea in the fourth round.

Following the doubling of The FA’s prize fund this season, winning clubs will receive £180,000 in prize money and a place in the fifth round.
