The company behind a planned solar park on the Hoo Peninsula is inviting residents to an information day.
Wessex Solar Energy (WSE) hopes to install a solar park on 26 hectares of land at Malmaynes Farm, about 800m west of Lower Stoke.
The company says it is keen to get feedback at Lower Stoke Village Hall on the Monday, July 7, but is already promoting the benefits of the park, which at 12MW in capacity would be large enough to supply about 2500 houses with renewable energy.
A statement said livestock would be able to graze between 3m high panels during the park’s 25 year operational life, and electricity would be exported from the site via existing transmission lines.
If given planning permission, the project would take three to four months to construct and become operational.
Richard Wearmouth, a director of WSE said: “We have our thoughts on what a scheme might look like on this site but we want to make sure that the public has the opportunity to raise any thoughts or ideas on how we could improve our designs prior to any application.
“There is a long and proud tradition of generating energy on the Hoo Peninsular and rightly so.
"I hope that we can bring forward a scheme that reflects that tradition whilst reducing the impact to the environment of our electricity generation through the use of renewable energy technology.”
