A hero in a robbery is being sought by police after reportedly recovering a bag for a victim who had been mugged on New Road, Chatham

A hero is being sought by police after he came to the aid of a woman who had been reportedly robbed.

It is alleged that a woman in her 20s was walking along New Road, Chatham, at around 11pm on Friday, October 2, when she was approached by another woman who grabbed hold of her handbag.

An unknown man is said to have intervened and returned the victim’s handbag, before any items were stolen.

Detectives are trying to trace the man who came to the victim’s aid, it is believed he distracted the culprit to seize the bag back.

A 35-year-old woman, from Chatham, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
