A one-of-a-kind chilli cafe is coming to Rochester High Street.

Chelle’s Pantry will be a hotbed of activity as it opens its doors for business for the first time.

Michelle Sackey, 54, owner of Medway’s hottest new business, is inviting customers to the launch of her cafe, offering free hot-dogs and the chance to take on The Chilli Challenge of withstanding eight increasingly fiery hot sauces.

Sauce made from the world's hottest chilli pepper, measuring a scorching 2.2 million Scoville units, will be available at Chelle’s Pantry along with a range of other eye-watering condiments.

The caterer of 35 years is offering diners a menu of chilli infused dishes to spice up their meal times from her favourite caramelised garlic and chilli toasted sandwiches to super hot Grim Reaper Wraps.

The cafe will be serving food with a range of spice levels so there will be plenty for those without flame-proof mouths.

The capsicum cafe/takeaway hybrid will also have spicy sweets on sale, including chili pepper pop-rocks and the world's hottest gummy bears.

Michelle, who left her job training adults with special needs who wanted work in catering to open the shop, said: “I’ve always worked in catering but I have always wanted to open a place of my own and my friend Frank has been involved with chili products for a long time, the idea of merging the two was appealing.

“I’m sad to leave the trainees but it was time to do it.”

Frank Jay, 51, owner of Chilli-Shop.co.uk and co-founder of the Fiery Foods Festival UK said: “Michelle has gone to the next level, that’s why I’m so proud of her, because no-one else has done it before.

“Chelle is the only one daring enough to do this.”

Chelle’s Pantry at 329 High Street, Rochester, opens at 10am.
