A pregnant woman has slammed a swimming pool for making her stand in the sun for more than an hour to get in.

Medway residents flocked to The Strand today to use their outside pool in the blistering heat.

But the popular attraction, in Strand Approach Road, Gillingham, meant long queues for some, including Aggie Czajkowska, who is five months pregnant.

The 31-year-old claims she asked staff at the pool if she could avoid the queues and be let in as a priority due to her pregnancy and was told 'no' by a man on the gates as it would 'annoy others in the line'.

She said: "I've been in the hot sun for more than an hour now. I thought they'd let me in as I'm pregnant and they usually do at airports or stations.

"I've never had anything like this, it's clearly visible I'm pregnant.

"There's about 50 people in the queue and it's moving very slowly. It's very hard to stand here in this 30 degree heat."

The county is set for scorching temperatures this week as a 'Saharan heat bubble' hits Kent.

We're expected to reach up to 32 degrees, with towns across the county set to be hotter than Lisbon.

Medway council has been approached for comment.
