The chief executive of a housing association is taking on a 14km open water swim for charity.
Ashley Hook is raising money for Crohns & Colitis UK by taking part it the Thames Marathon tomorrow.
The head of mhs homes said: “In a moment of gross stupidity I signed up for the event. I’m seriously worried I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
“I did a 4k in the Thames a few weeks ago and halfway through I swallowed so much Thames water I felt sick.
“I am doing this to raise much needed funds for a brilliant charity who are striving to improve the quality of life of those afflicted by this terrible disease.
"Lots of people are backing me which I'm grateful for."
In preparation for tomorrow's big event, Ashley has completed 6.5km of the river a run and on July 29 he did the 100 mile Prudential Ride London: Surrey bike ride.
He’s set himself a fundraising goal of £1,600 and has already been pledged £1,345.
