Hunt for motorcyclist leads to Pentagon Centre, Chatham, after collision with police officer in Larkfield

A motorcyclist who collided with a police officer is the subject of a major search.

The collision, which involved an officer who was on foot, happened in New Hythe Lane in Larkfield at 2.45pm today.

Police were spotted at the Pentagon Centre after the incident

The officer was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

Police say the motorcycle failed to stop and inquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.

Officers have subsequently been seen at the Pentagon Centre in Chatham as part of the effort to find the rider.

A police helicopter was also seen above the town.

Rumours that an officer had been stabbed have been dismissed.

Commenting this evening, a police spokesman said there had been no stabbing.

He added: "The police helicopter was assisting a search for the rider of the motorcycle."
