A high street busker has performed the biggest gig of his life after taking to the stage with girl band royalty the Sugababes.

Jordan Ravenhill, known as the Primark Singer for performing at his regular pitch in Chatham, warmed up for the noughties pop group at the Rochester Castle Concerts yesterday.

Speaking ahead of the show, the 26-year-old, who lives with his gran in Rainham, confessed to being excited but nervous about the gig.

He told KentOnline: “I am really excited for this amazing opportunity.

“I remember when I was a young boy listening to their music on MTV and the radio.”

Earlier this year, Jordan did a solo show to a sell-out audience Rochester Cathedral – the biggest performance of his music journey which started at the age of 15 busking at Rainham Shopping Precinct.

His lucky break came after the cathedral’s events manager Carrie Ryder and her eight-year-old daughter Grace bumped into him busking outside the discount store.

He believes he got the Castle Concert gig after being spotted crooning away in the medieval nave of England’s second oldest cathedral.

He said:” I think this opportunity came about because of how well it went at the cathedral and also because I am making such a big name and impact around Medway.

“I hope this is the next big thing to happen to me.”

Jordan’s influences include Michael Jackson, Paulo Nutini, The Beatles and , of course global multi-millionaire Ed Sheeran who started his illustrious career busking on the streets.

He said: “I love busking. It gives me freedom. It’s my therapy – even though it can be a struggle to make a living at times.”

Posting on social media after last night’s show, he added: “Words can’t explain how I’m feeling.

“Thank you firstly to Rochester Castle Concerts for having me for opening up for all the amazing talented artist and having me for the last concert this year.”
