Kevin Parrish knows his Dynamos side need to take maximum points against lowly Peterborough Islanders and Haringey Greyhounds

Invicta Dynamos head coach Kevin Parrish blamed first match nerves for his side's stuttering start to their new NIHL South Division 1 season on Sunday.

Although Dynamos eventually ended up comfortable 7-2 winners over the Milton Keynes Thunder, they only led 3-2 going into the final period and Parrish said: "We've got a lot of new guys and we had a few nerves at the start. That led us to making some silly mistakes which cost us two goals.

"But I said to the boys they just had to just keep grinding away and we tired them out in the final period because we were fitter than they were."

Parrish added: "We played some good hockey in the third. We moved the puck around well and got the goals and it's always good to get two points on the board straightaway."

Dynamos now face a busy double header weekend, travelling to the Isle of Wight to meet the Wightlink Raiders on Saturday (6pm) for their opening match in the new South East Trophy and then on Sunday (5.15pm), Invicta return to the Silver Blades in Gillingham to take on Bracknell Hornets in another league game.
