Invicta Dynamos go down to Chelmsford Chieftains in first defeat of season

Invicta Dynamos' 100 per cent record in ENIHL South Division 1 this season disappeared on Sunday when they lost 8-2 to the Chelmsford Chieftains in Essex.
Without defencemen Tim Smith and Adam Copland as well as the suspended Grant Baxter, the Dynamos were under pressure from the start and fell behind after four minutes to a goal from Chieftains' player-coach Gary Clarke.
Further Chelmsford goals followed from Clarke, Jakub Klima (2), Danny Hammond (2) and Tom Long before tempers flared late in the game when Invicta netminder Andy Moffat poked Chelmsford’s Jakub Klima only to be on the receiving end of a blatant slash from the retaliating Czech player. In the aftermath both sides came together with Dynamos' Ryan Giles jumping to the defence of his goalie, earning a match penalty in the process while Klima was handed the same punishment for his stick play.
When the action finally restarted Invicta pulled a couple of goals back through Andy Smith and Ryan Ellis, but the Chieftains had the final say when Long added his second goal.
This Sunday Invicta are at home to defending league champions the Wightlink Raiders.
