A Kent MP has reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as part of a fundraiser for a breast cancer charity.

Tracey Crouch, the Conservative MP for Chatham and Aylesford, completed the challenge on Friday with a group of women.

It comes more than two years after she completed her treatment for breast cancer in February 2021.

The former sports minister was diagnosed in 2020 and wanted to give something back to the charity that supported her.

She posted on Twitter today: “Every day we climb mountains. Some are harder than others.

“But with the support of others we endure and we overcome.”

The team of women was led by Ms Crouch and worked to raise funds for Breast Cancer Kent by taking up the challenge to climb the highest mountain in Africa.

The fundraising page states: “For those of you that know us, even camping for eight days will be a huge challenge.

“We are nervous and excited but know we are doing it all for a great cause.”

The group has raised more than £140,000 so far for the fundraiser, which can be found here.
