Commuters faced long delays this evening after a car broke down on a busy route.

The A289 Berwick Way and Medway Tunnel both had high volumes of traffic as a result.

The delays were due to a broken down vehicle on Frindsbury Hill A228.

There was congestion stretching across to the other side of the tunnel, with traffic in Dock Road, Chatham, being backed up to the A2.

Queues also formed along Anthonys Way from the Medway City Estate.

At around 6.46pm, the car was recovered and all lanes were reopened.
