Man airlifted to hospital after crash with Royal Mail lorry near Whittings Farm

A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after the car he was driving was involved in a crash with a Royal Mail lorry.

The incident happened at about 1pm on the A228, close to Whittings Farm.

Police closed the road in both directions, with traffic diverted along the High Street.

The man’s female passenger in his car, a yellow Mini Cooper, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by land ambulance.

The man has been taken to King’s College Hospital in London.

The road was reopened at 5pm.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the two vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.
